The book was launched in La Paz by its author, Chilean historian Javier Larrain, and Bolivian political scientist Valentina Enriquez.
Published by Pinves and Intiedit publishers, the essay is a comprehensive journey through the history of the Communist Party of Chile (PCCh), the Partido Socialista (Socialist Party-PS), and the Movimiento de Izquierda Revolucionaria (Revolutionary Left Movement-MIR), as well as their tactical and strategic political actions during the administration of the president, who was killed in combat on September 11, 1973.
Larrain explained in the text that the work of these political organizations is analyzed around four milestones that marked the Unidad Popular (Popular Unity) movement: the electoral victory of September 4, 1970, the assassination of Edmundo Perez Zujovic in 1971, the October 1972 strike, and the “Tanquetazo” (The Tank Putsch) that occurred in 1973.
The author also emphasized that the book features valuable period documentation and interviews/dialogues/reflections on politics, history, culture, indigenous peoples, and education, conducted with historian Gabriel Salazar, sociologist Marcos Roitman Rosenmann, anthropologist Roberto Morales, and educator Richard Yanez.
