Mexico reactivates shipment of documents with no commercial value

Mexico City, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) Mexico Post reactivated the sending of letters and documents with no commercial value to the United States, a measure considered as a first step in the reestablishment of services with final destination to the neighboring country.

A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that this is part of the resumption of postal services, following the implementation of Executive Order 14324 of the U.S. Government, applicable to all nations in the world.

Since the day before, it is possible to go to the more than 1,500 Mexican Post Offices in the country, where attention will be provided exclusively for the sending of written letters, postcards, administrative, legal or academic papers, as long as they have no commercial value.

Although parcels, courier services, printed publications, magazines and books will remain restricted until further notice, the text adds, Mexico is carrying out an intense coordination work among the competent agencies.

In addition, permanent talks with the U.S. authorities to reach agreements to fully reestablish postal services continues.

Last month, the neighboring country to the North, through the aforementioned executive order, suspended duty-free entry for packages with merchandise with a value of less than 800 dollars, which is why Correos de Mexico stopped postal and parcel shipments to that destination.
