This trade union movement is expected to appear this week before the Integrated Finance and Budget Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and is preparing a document outlining its positions on the matter.
PIT-CNT President Marcelo Abdala stated that the budget proposal “points in the right direction,” but he considered it limited.
Abdala told reporters, “Fiscal space cannot be considered immutable.” He acknowledged the shortage of resources, which is why the labor union proposes removing tax exemptions to strengthen the budget.
He stated, “We need to think on tax changes that allow those who have more to pay more, so that what cannot be resolved under current conditions, can be resolved.”
In this context, the trade union movement insists on the need to establish a one percent tax on the country’s wealthiest people.
