The ruling refers to Rodrigo Londono, Pablo Catatumbo, Pastor Alape, Milton de Jesus Toncel, Jaime Alberto Parra, Julian Gallo, and Rodrigo Granda, who in June 2022 publicly assumed responsibility for the aforementioned events before that court, the victims, and the country.
The Truth Recognition Section of the Peace Tribunal presented the ruling today, outlining the sanctions imposed on those appearing after they laid down their weapons, provided the truth, admitted the crimes charged, and verified that they have maintained their commitment to non-repetition. They also stated that they will not receive a salary for this activity.
For the crimes associated with the deprivation of persons, the court imposed eight years of a “Sanccion Propia” (Immunization of Persons), which they must serve through restorative projects, including those related to the search for missing persons, acts of remembrance and symbolic reparation, environmental restoration, and humanitarian demining.
Those most responsible will have the necessary guarantees to complete the restorative component of the sentence in dignified and safe conditions, as is the case with any person prosecuted in the Colombian justice system, the court stated.
While serving their Immunization of Persons, those appearing from the former FARC-EP must also submit to the retributive component, which entails effective restrictions on rights such as freedom of residence and movement.
They will be subject to permanent supervision by the JEP, will carry an electronic device that will allow the Peace Tribunal to verify their location and activities in real time, and must remain in a specific geographic area—which does not imply imprisonment—and comply with specific schedules and tasks, according to the ruling.
