Israeli forces enter Syrian territory and search homes

Damascus, Sept 24 (Prensa Latina) An Israeli occupation army patrol raided the Syrian village of Saida Al-Golan, in the southwestern province of Quneitra, where they searched several homes.

This incursion follows a series of daily violations of Syrian territory in the south of the country, particularly in the provinces of Quneitra and Deraa, where Israeli forces carried out operations that included arrests.

In one of the most recent actions, Israeli troops also entered the village of Koya, in the Yarmouk Basin region, where they clashed with armed men before withdrawing to their positions in the occupied Golan Heights.

These actions occur in parallel with ongoing US-mediated negotiations between Syria and Israel to reach a de-escalation agreement.

A Trump administration official told The Times of Israel that the security agreement is 99 percent complete and that an announcement could come in the next two weeks, once domestic and political details in Syria are finalized.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated that his government is negotiating with Syrian authorities on an agreement to demilitarize the southwest of the country and guarantee what he called “security for the Druze communities” in the Jabal al-Druze region.

However, he affirmed that Tel Aviv “will not give up” the security zones where it maintains a military presence within Syrian territory, in open contradiction with international resolutions demanding the withdrawal of the occupying forces.

From Damascus, Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shara reiterated that his country is willing to move toward a security agreement that would end Israeli incursions and restore stability to the southern regions.
