According to the online newspaper En Segundos Panama, this position has generated questions both within and outside the country, especially following the recent support of Western powers such as France, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Portugal, which joined the recognition process this week, along with a dozen other UN member states.
Globally, the trend is clear: more than three-quarters of the 193 UN members now support the creation of a Palestinian State. Even countries traditionally close to Israel, such as Belgium, Malta, and Luxembourg, have changed their stance in favor of recognition.
Also in the region, all Latin American countries, including Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia, have recognized the Palestinian state.
In contrast, a small group of countries maintains their refusal. In addition to the United States and Israel, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Cameroon, and most of the countries of Oceania are also present, while Europe remains the most divided continent.
