During an event on Thursday evening marking the 46th anniversary of the founding of the National Police, the president revealed Washington’s use, as a pretext, of the accusation that Caracas is a cocaine exporter, while pointing to Colombia as a major producer of coca leaves.
Ortega said, “With this story, they fabricate that our brother, President Nicolas Maduro, leads drug trafficking gangs, when what they really seek is to seize Venezuelan oil, the largest reserves in the world.”
He questioned that the United States, with its military and intelligence might, fails to control drug use within its borders.
He affirmed, “The greatest drug use occurs in North America, and thousands of young people die there every year, but they do not assume their responsibility.
Banks receive accounts from drug traffickers without any oversight, which demonstrates complicity.”
The Sandinista leader also noted that the international situation is marked by conflicts and crimes, mentioning in particular the Israeli Government’s actions against the Palestinian people.
