The Republic of Palau is made up of a group of islands located in the Pacific Ocean, approximately 500 kilometers east of the Philippines.
Its independence was officially declared in 1994, the date on which the nation was also recognized as a UN full member.
Some studies say that the original inhabitants of this territory are related to the Malays of Indonesia, the Melanesians of New Guinea, and the Polynesians.
