After several weeks of tension, with intimidating acts such as drone attacks and the aggressive siege of the GSF by Tel Aviv regime warships, the Sumar group and the Podemos organization condemned Israel’s actions. They deplored the Spanish government’s withdrawal of its ship from the protective fleet.
The Foreign Ministry informed that the action was taken carefully, to avoid a possible confrontation between the Spanish navy and Israeli forces, while calling for caution and urging the GSF not to continue the mission.
In a statement on social media, the Spanish delegation in the GSF, known as the Global Movement to Gaza, was disappointed with the Executive’s decision to withdraw the “Furor” frigate from its escort mission as it crossed the exclusion zone established by Israel.
“Accepting this threat to peaceful and humanitarian action as normal means endorsing Israel’s impunity and silencing the denunciation of genocide,” the delegation emphasized in its statement.
Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares said recently that the physical integrity and rights of Spanish activists traveling on the Global Sumud Flotilla must be respected, following Israel’s actions.
