Organized by the Fidel Castro Ruz Center and the “Nico Lopez” Communist Party University, the event addressed the historical context of the birth, in 1925, of that political organization, the precursor to the current Communist Party of Cuba.
During the event, special emphasis was placed on the work of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution in uniting the various political forces around a common project. “The Commander in Chief understood that without unity, no Revolution is possible,” stated Sisi Abay, deputy director of the Fidel Castro Ruz Center.
According to the researcher, Fidel Castro worked tirelessly to unite revolutionary forces, overcome differences, and build a shared national project through diversity. “He taught us that unity is not just a formal agreement, but an act of political maturity,” she said.
The seminar also served as a forum for the analysis of nearly twenty presentations by 10 academic and political institutions in the country. In addition, the photography exhibition “Granma in the Mystique of Fidel” was inaugurated, and various books related to the subject were presented. Among the presentations, the presentation “Notes on Two Historic Dates: The Founding of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Slogan ‘Socialism or Death,'” by political leader Enrique Villuendas stood out.
According to the Ecured website, the first Communist Party of Cuba was a Marxist-oriented political organization representing the interests of the working class and popular sectors, founded in Cuba between August 16 and 17, 1925.
This party was the successor to the Cuban Revolutionary Party and, in turn, constituted a precursor to what is now the Communist Party of Cuba.
