Al Jazeera television reported that several Hamas leaders take part in the talks in Cairo, among them Khalil al-Hayya, whom Israel attempted to assassinate in Doha, Qatar, in a failed attack that sparked a wave of international criticism.
Meanwhile, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty spoke by telephone the day before on the issue with his Qatari and Dutch counterparts, and with Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh.
An Egyptian source announced that, as part of efforts to end the Israeli aggression against the coastal enclave, the nation will also host an inter-Palestinian dialogue to decide the future of the Gaza Strip.
