In an interview published this Sunday on the website of the Corriere della Sera newspaper, the Italian Foreign Minister announced that on October 9 in Paris, he will participate in a meeting with his counterparts from France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, as well as several Arab countries, prior to a reconstruction conference to be held in Egypt.

“Peace in Gaza is closer,” Tajani asserted, noting that to that end, “I trust in the work of Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt to finally convince Hamas, and in that of the United States to influence Israel.”

The minister indicated that his government is willing to “deploy our troops if necessary” to support this process, and emphasized that “the Carabinieri are already in the West Bank, where the Italians enjoy a good reputation, which could be useful.”

Tajani’s statements come amid a wave of protests that have rocked the country since last Wednesday, condemning Israel’s genocide in Gaz and Tel Aviv’s attacks on the Sumud Global Flotilla, in which dozens of Italians participated, including several left-wing parliamentarians.
