After a long electoral process starting in April of this year for the August 17 general elections, in which the PDC won with 32.06 percent, the propaganda campaigns of both the media and public events will conclude on Wednesday, when the political campaigning will come to a halt.
At the end of the first round, all political parties admitted that the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) guaranteed fair results, and now the Rodrigo Paz-Edmand Lara and Jorge Tuto Quiroga-Juan Pablo Velazco presidential formulas are vying for the presidency ahead of the October 19 runoff.
More than six months of divisions within the popular national movement led to the defeat of the ruling Movimiento al Socialismo (Movement Towards Socialism-MAS) since 2006 (except for the 2019-2020 hiatus with the de facto government of Jeanine Anez) and paved the way that the right currently controls 120 out of 130 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and 36 seats in the Senate.
The TSE-RSP-ADM Resolution No. 422/2025, issued by the TSE Plenary Hall, prohibits election propaganda from midnight Bolivian time on Thursday, October 16, to 18:00 hours on Sunday, October 19.
Likewise, alcoholic beverages may not be sold or consumed in homes, stores, restaurants, hotels, bars, or other public or private establishments from midnight on Friday, October 17, to midday on Monday, October 20.
The TSE stated that carrying firearms, knives, or any object that poses a danger to public safety will be prohibited on the election day on October 19.
