Socialists in Spain’s preferences in a turbulent political landscape

Madrid, Oct 13 (Prensa Latina) Although polls are almost always questionable, they serve as a general indicator, such as the one released in Spain, which gives a resounding lead to the Socialists currently in power.

Despite the corruption scandals surrounding the government led by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) pointed out a 15-point lead between the Socialist Party (PSOE) and the conservative Popular Party (PP).

It poses this question based on a hypothetical scenario of general elections when, paradoxically, the PP is pushing for the early elections scheduled for 2027 and is promising measures to restore good governance in Spain.

The CIS is one of the entities, incidentally, heavily criticized by the PP and also by the far-right Vox.

This time, according to its poll, the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party) has won with 34.8 percent of the estimated vote, while the PP (People’s Party) has fallen at the same time, with just 19.8 percent, and Vox (Vox) with 17.7 percent.

The rise of the far right is celebrating its golden moment with incendiary statements from Vox leader Santiago Abascal, who is emboldened and outspoken against Sanchez.

The details revealed by the CIS (National Electoral Commission) show that the election took place between October 1 and 7 with 4,029 people and points to the PP (People’s Party), led by Alberto Nunez Feijoo, in crisis.
