The humanitarian social organization urged in its most recent post on its Facebook profile that each comment published there in these final hours become “a wish, a message of love for our Cuban colleagues.”
It added, “Leave a message for the friendship that has surpassed all seas and time, for the belief that the Vietnam-Cuba unity will remain like the heart, which never stops beating.”
Launched on Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro’s 99th birthday and in the context of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year and the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the campaign’s initial goal was to raise 65 billion dong (approximately 2.4 million dollars).
However, this goal was reached in just 30 hours and tripled in the first three days after its launch. As planned, the campaign will end at 23:59:59 hours (local time) this Thursday.
The most recent statistics released by the Vietnam Red Cross Society, as of 18:30 hours (local time) on Tuesday, stated that more than 2.09 million individual and collective contributions totaling more than 512.8 billion dong (more than 19.46 million dollars) had been received.
At the launch ceremony of the solidarity program, Do Van Chien, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, underscored that this action shows the Vietnamese people’s tradition of humanity and the deep friendship between the two nations.
