Mohammed Thabet, spokesperson for the Electricity Distribution Company in the territory, denounced the serious losses due to the war and stated that the amount covers only the distribution sector and does not include losses in transmission and generation.
He clarified that the loss estimates are preliminary because the company’s teams have not yet reached some of the so-called red zones to assess the damage.
In an interview with Safa news agency, the official specified that 80 percent of Gaza’s electricity distribution networks were completely destroyed, as well as more than 80 percent of the company’s vehicles and multipurpose machinery.
The Israeli Army also destroyed 90 percent of the company’s warehouses and 70 percent of its remaining buildings and facilities, he said.
He revealed that 60 company employees and workers were killed and more than 100 technicians and engineers were injured.
