This will be the first visit by a top leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) to Sofia in the last 50 years.
His visit takes place in the context of the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, which, according to diplomatic sources, marks a new milestone in the traditional friendship between the two nations.
To Lam and Radev met in this capital in late November 2024, when the Bulgarian president paid an official visit to Vietnam, the first by a head of State from that country in 11 years.
The Party chief underscored that Hanoi attaches importance to preserving and strengthening ties with traditional friendly countries and considers Sofia a gateway to developing relations with the European Union (EU).
He also expressed Vietnam’s willingness to serve as a bridge between Bulgaria and East Asian countries and proposed a series of measures aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in areas such as agriculture, industry, electrical engineering, information technology, artificial intelligence, and space research.
During Radev’s visit, a Joint Declaration was signed in which both parties reaffirmed their commitment to promoting collaboration in areas of mutual strength and need, for the benefit of both peoples and for regional and global peace, stability, and sustainable development.
