A report stated that the three-day meeting aims to strengthen the exchange of experiences, technical knowledge, and best practices among key stakeholders in the public, private, academic, scientific, and community sectors.
Dilka Escobar, Deputy Director of the State Concessions, Investments, and Risks Directorate at the MEF, told reporters that the meeting will allow progress in the implementation of policies, strategies, and concrete actions for disaster risk reduction in Latin America and the Caribbean.
It is also a priority to boost a culture of prevention, linked to the resilience and security of both public institutions and the population, so that they can learn.
Among the issues to be addressed by experts and academicians are governance, public policies, and international cooperation; financing, insurance, and sustainability for risk reduction.
Specialists from Japan, Spain, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Chile, in addition to the host nation attended the meeting.
The agenda ranges from the use of technology to public policies to build resilience.
