Cuban Parlm’t voices solidarity with Zimbabwe on Anti-Sanctions Day

Harare, Oct 23 (Prensa Latina) Cuba acknowledged Zimbabwe's resilience and dignity by reiterating its solidarity with this nation in the face of unilateral coercive measures on the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Anti-Sanctions Day on October 25.

Our strongest solidarity with our sister country, a victim for more than two decades of sanctions that affect its development and well-being, without reason or justification, states the message from the International Relations Committee at the National People’s Power Assembly (ANPP).

Addressed to Webster Shamu, Chairman of the Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the text states that, on the day during which SADC renews its call for justice and respect for international law, we recognize the example of resilience and dignity of the Zimbabwean people and the leadership of the Government at the forefront of this just cause.

Signed by Alberto Nunez, president of the ANPP’s International Relations Commission, the message considers, as Foreign Minister Amon Murwira expressed at the United Nations, that these measures only strengthen the people’s resolved, sustained by the solidarity of SADC, the African Union (AU), and friends around the world.

The document states that this solidarity, expressed again and again at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), is a symbol of true brotherhood.

It recalls that the UNGA will debate for the 33rd time on October 28-29 the draft resolution “Necessity of Ending the Economic, Commercial, and Financial Blockade Imposed by the United States of America against Cuba.”

We trust, as always, in the firm and fraternal voice of Zimbabwe.
