The movement, founded in Kenya on October 15 with former President Joseph Kabila as its leader, stated that this is the way to resolve the national crisis, not the government’s proposals, which exclude the opposition, Radio Okapi reported.
Save the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) spokesperson Seth Kikuni described the government’s calls for talks as a “monologue” and a “farce,” and asserted that this will not end the multidimensional crisis that threatens the very foundations of the nation.
“Politically, our country is facing a crisis of legitimacy. In terms of security, the country is fragmented. The East is at war. The West is insecure and furious. Kinshasa is suffocating,” Kikuni said, adding that, economically and socially, people’s lives have become a nightmare due to inflation and unemployment.
The alternative can no longer be silence or dispersion, he affirmed, and demanded the immediate holding of an inclusive, sincere, and open dialogue under the auspices of Cenco and the ECC.
