The non-governmental organization affirmed that the measure represents a new cover-up for the Israeli prison system to conceal its systematic violations.

It stressed that the measure was implemented amid the growing demands to allow the ICRC to resume its visits to Palestinian prisoners, which have been suspended since the beginning of the aggression against the Gaza Strip in October 2023.

It also affirmed that the decision “reflects the occupation’s intention to continue its policies of torture and systematic violations against prisoners.”

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz signed an order prohibiting visits by ICRC representatives because they would “seriously affect the State’s security.”

This month, the Palestinian Center for Prisoners’ Advocacy accused Israel of practicing State terrorism against detainees in its prisons, calling on the United Nations to take action against these violations.
