SERVEL President Pamela Figueroa stated that the objectives are to have all the necessary poll members to manage the process and ensure the fastest possible release of results.
Figueroa noted that a key point is that citizens are well aware of the fines for failing to vote.
A recently approved law states that absence without a justified reason is punishable by a fine between 30,000 pesos and 103,000 pesos (31.5 dollars to 108 dollars).
The only exceptions are for those who are abroad, more than 200 kilometers from their polling station, sick people with a valid medical certificate, or those with mobility limitations.
Voters will elect on November 16 the next President of Chile, all members for the Chamber of Deputies, and 23 of 50 senators.
