PNH Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Paraison thanked Canada for this valuable support, as these items will better protect officers during interventions in public order disturbances or emergency situations.
The donation from the northern country will strengthen the officers’ capacity to act in a complex security context, the online newspaper Haiti Libre argued.
Recently, Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anad announced that her country would contribute $60 million to support stabilization efforts in Haiti, where chaos and despair prevail.
Anand announced his country’s decision during a high-level meeting of the UN Special Consultative Group on Haiti, held as part of the UN General Assembly High-Level Week in New York last September.
These funds, Anand explained, will be used to support the Multinational Security Support Mission, which has now been renamed the Gang Repression Force.
