Bolivian minister confirms collaboration with US DEA

La Paz, Nov 12 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia is preparing to collaborate with international police agencies in the fight against drug trafficking, including the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the newly appointed Minister of Government, Marco Antonio Oviedo, stated.

“We will have the collaboration of several agencies and countries to help us in the fight against transnational and serious crimes. Among them, obviously, is the DEA, as well as police units from the European Union. We also have agreements with neighboring countries,” the minister affirmed at a press conference.

Oviedo confirmed this information after presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of three of his deputy ministers, including the Minister of Social Defense, also known as the Minister of the Fight Against Drug Trafficking, Ernesto Justiniano, who previously held this position (2002-2003) during the administration of Gonzalo Sanchez de Lozada.

Speaking to the press, Justiniano echoed Oviedo’s sentiments and affirmed that during his administration he would work with the various international agencies responsible for combating drug trafficking.

He emphasized that he would begin working with all the agencies that, quite possibly, had not had a strong presence under the previous government.
