According to the newly sworn-in Vice Minister of Citizen Security, Rolando Montano, this evaluation will allow for the development of more appropriate initiatives for crime prevention and a reform of anti-crime strategies.
“Based on this analysis, we will generate a new planning structure that will allow us to deliver a suitable project for crime prevention,” the official stated in an interview with the state-run channel Bolivia TV.
Montano specified that this assessment is expected to be completed next week, with a view to developing projects to be implemented starting in 2026, as the current program will continue until December 31 of this year.
“What we want is to reactivate the Vice Ministry’s work in formulating public policies that guarantee the country’s domestic security,” the official clarified, “always respecting people’s human and constitutional rights.”
He anticipated that the assessment will include an evaluation of the progress of current projects and the identification of potential shortcomings.
Based on this, he indicated, solutions will be developed to improve security management.
The Vice Minister emphasized the importance of coordinating with various public and social entities, such as grassroots organizations, municipalities, regional governments, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the Police, to create a comprehensive citizen security program.
