The statement released on the Ministry’s official Telegram channel noted that the document aims to develop and explore several gas fields in the Arab country.
The agreement was signed in Damascus under the supervision of Energy Minister Muhammed al-Bashir, and was attended by representatives of both companies.
The document covers the expansion of operations in existing fields and the implementation of new exploration programs in accordance with international technical standards.
Al-Bashir emphasized that the agreement opens “new ways of cooperation with international companies with a long track record in the gas sector,” in line with government plans aimed at expanding investment partnerships and generating benefits that contribute to the country’s economic recovery.
Syrian Petroleum Company Director General Youssef Qablawi stated that the memorandum will allow ConocoPhillips to resume operations in Syria.
