Israeli ground incursions reported in Syria

Damascus, Nov 22 (Prensa Latina) Patrols of the Israeli occupation forces carried out new incursions in various areas of the southwestern Syrian province of Quneitra, in a series of repeated violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

According to local sources speaking to the Syria TV website, two Israeli tanks and two other military vehicles departed from the illegal Tel Aviv military base at Tel Ahmar Gharbi and moved toward Tel Ahmar Sharqi, where they raised the Israeli flag before withdrawing to their point of origin.

The same sources specified that another patrol of six vehicles entered the towns of Bir Ajam and Bariqa, as well as the villages of Zubayda al-Gharbiya and Zubayda al-Sharquiya, all located in southern Quneitra.

Simultaneously, an additional unit entered the village of Ain al-Ziwan and continued along the road leading to Abu Qubays in the southern rural area before withdrawing.

These movements follow violations the previous day, when an Israeli patrol of five military vehicles entered land belonging to the village of al-Samdaniyah al-Sharqiyah, in the same Quneitra Governorate.

That incident was preceded by Israeli army incursions into the towns of al-Ashah and al-Asbah, and by a prolonged military presence in Zubaydah al-Gharbiyah, located in the central part of the province.

Occupation troops also entered the road linking the city of Jabatha al-Khashab with the villages of Ain al-Bayda and Ufania, where two Israeli vehicles remained for a time, searching passersby.

The new provocations come just days after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accompanied by Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, visited the buffer zone in Syria. The incursion drew widespread condemnation in Arab countries and other international circles.
