Until November 29, the meeting brings together the continent’s leading figures and policymakers in a coordinated effort to advance the next chapter of the African Statistical System.
The final event, the 19th session of the Committee of Directors General of National Statistical Offices, will be held under the continental organization’s theme for 2025: “Justice for Africans and peoples of African descent through reparations.”
This theme serves as a powerful call to integrate historical reparations into the discourse of contemporary development and coincides with the start of the Second International Decade for People of African Descent (2025-2034).
The series of meetings will focus on the robust implementation of the key policy instruments of the Strategy for Harmonisation of Statistics in Africa, adopted by the AU Summit of Heads of State and Government in January 2018.
