The memorial ceremony, held the previous day at the headquarters of the ARCI Cultural Association, one of the most important national institutions for social promotion, was organized by the Cuban Embassy in Italy in conjunction with solidarity groups with the island in this European country.
The event was presided over by the Cuban ambassador, Mirta Granda, who thanked those present for their attendance at the event honoring the man who, she said, taught us the importance of “defending the values one believes in at the price of any sacrifice,” an idea Fidel expressed in his definition of the concept of Revolution.
A large contingent from the diplomatic corps accredited in Italy participated, along with the Cuban ambassador to the Holy See, Leyde Rodriguez, as well as Cubans residing in Italy and members of diverse sectors of Italian society with close ties to the Caribbean nation.
