On its website, the UNDP office stated that the delivery includes life jackets, floating VHF radios, portable GPS units, handheld compasses, mooring buoys, and jerrycans.
This assistance responds to a specific request from the Grenadian government, which seeks to boost the operational capacity of the fishing sector, crucial for food security and the local economy.
“Recovery is only the beginning when a disaster strikes. Building resilience ensures that communities can withstand future impacts,” the UNDP said in the statement.
Elizabeth Charles-Soomer, an official with the Office, formally delivered the supplies and said the action is part of the international organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting development priorities led by countries in the region and protecting livelihoods from the growing threat of extreme weather events.
