They also condemned the persistent electromagnetic interference in the Caribbean, primarily over the airspace of that South American nation.
They warned that these actions, carried out outside the bounds of international law and in open violation of the Charter of the United Nations, reaffirm the imperialistic attitude of a government that seeks to establish itself as the arbiter and executioner of the world.
The United States has no moral or legal authority to dictate orders over Caribbean territories, nor over sovereign nations, they stated in a press release.
They denounced this act as a threat to regional and global peace, a risk to the security of the peoples of the Caribbean, a danger to aircraft flying over Venezuelan territory, and an intentional measure of destabilization against a country exercising its legitimate right to self-determination.
They further stated that only global mobilization, and especially that of the American people themselves, can stop these illegitimate and unilateral actions that Trump intends to impose, even overriding his country’s Congress.
No president has the right to endanger millions of people or to turn the Caribbean into a military laboratory, they emphasized.
The signatory organizations demanded the immediate action of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, whom they asked to convene the Security Council to enforce respect for the sovereignty of Venezuela and the territorial integrity of the Caribbean.
They also demanded that the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, act in accordance with the Constitution and the principles of International Law, condemning this colonialist act of air blockade against Venezuela and attack on the Caribbean with electromagnetic waves.
