Japan’s stance challenges post-war order, China underscored

Beijing, Dec 2 (Prensa Latina) China reiterated that the erroneous statements made by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi regarding Taiwan openly challenge the results of World War II and the post-1945 international order.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian demanded Tokyo clarify its stance in the four bilateral political documents on the island.

According to the spokesperson, Beijing sent a new letter to the UN secretary-general to explain its position, an action he described as “entirely justified and necessary.”

He noted that Japan’s response contains “erroneous views and hypocritical lies,” and criticized Tokyo for avoiding clearly defining its supposed “consistent stance” on Taiwan.

He underscored that linking a supposed “existential crisis scenario” in Japan to the situation in Taiwan implies a threat of the use of force against China, which contradicts the “exclusive self-defense” policy that Tokyo proclaims.

The spokesperson demanded that Tokyo correct its position, withdraw these statements, and stop damaging bilateral public sentiment.
