Xi, Macron promote dialogue and mutual learning in informal meeting

Chengdu, China, Dec 5 (Prensa Latina) The presidents of China, Xi Jinping, and France, Emmanuel Macron, underscored the cultural strength of both nations and the importance of mutual learning during an informal meeting in this province of Sichuan.

The two heads of State talked while touring the historical site in the city of Dujiangyan, accompanied by their wives.

Xi presented the history and operation of the Dujiangyan water system and noted that the project reflects the perseverance of his people and the pursuit of harmony between humankind and nature.

The two presidents later discussed global issues at the Huaigu Pavilion.

Xi emphasized that national strengthening requires both material and spiritual progress, and highlighted the continuity, unity, innovation, openness, and peaceful vocation of Chinese civilization.

Macron, in turn, noted that the global situation is evolving rapidly and expressed France’s willingness to intensify dialogue with China to resolve conflicts through diplomatic means.

The informal meeting in this province concludes Macron’s three-day agenda in China, which focused on improving trade relations and addressing international issues such as the situations in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.

During the visit, the two countries issued a joint declaration on global governance, climate and environmental cooperation, the peaceful use of nuclear energy, agricultural and food exchange, and the situations in Ukraine and Palestine.
