The event, taking place in the capital of the Nariño department, in southwestern Colombia, is hosting more than 400 business representatives and is dedicated to Ecuador as a guest of honor.
One of its significant events was a Business Matchmaking Forum, designed to boost exports, promote foreign direct investment, and strengthen sustainable tourism, with the participation of markets such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, and Peru.
Environment and Sustainable Development Minister Irene Velez presented on Thursday the 2025-2026 Call Plan for the Environmental Allocation and 20 percent of the Increased Revenue from the General Royalties System.
This plan will allocate 423 billion pesos (approximately 112 million dollars at the current exchange rate) to finance projects nationwide.
The initiative aims to strengthen the conservation of strategic areas, improve territorial management, and support public entities and ethnic communities in developing environmental initiatives that promote restoration, governance, and sustainable development.
The Environment Ministry stated that Bioexpo marks a milestone for Nariño, transforming the region into a national and international showcase that promotes local talent, boosts the economy, and positions the department as a referent in sustainability, innovation, and biodiversity.
