Dominican Campaign of Solidarity with Cuba holds national meeting

Santo Domingo, Dec 7 (Prensa Latina) The Dominican Campaign of Solidarity with Cuba is holding its 35th national meeting, following a year marked by unwavering support for Cuba in its struggle against the United States' economic, commercial, and financial blockade, which severely limits the island's development.

The Campaign’s 35th anniversary coincides with its founding on June 14, the same day as the birthday of two great men linked by history: Major General Antonio Maceo (1845-1896) of the Liberation Army and Argentine-Cuban revolutionary fighter Ernesto “Che” Guevara (1928-1967).

Dedicated to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, whose centenial would be observed on August 13, 2026, the meeting will reject the economic siege and the continued inclusion of that Caribbean nation in Washington’s State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list, its president, Roberto Payano, told Prensa Latina.

As usual, the Dominican Campaign will summarize the work done during 2025 in support of Cuba, as well as its plans for 2026.

The organization had planned a larger gathering last year, but decided to allocate some of its resources to the purchase of electrical transformers and other products to donate to Cuba, which has been affected by several natural disasters that caused severe economic damage.

It also joined this 2025 to organizations and friends in the Dominican Republic who have sent donations to that nation following the devastating passage of Hurricane Melissa through the eastern region.
