The Animation Studios of the Cuban Institute Film Institute (ICAIC) will host the event, whose first day features the project “Linterna Violeta” (Violet Lantern), a dialogue with Cuban director Ivette Avila about the series of animated spots and documentaries, using mixed techniques, that analyze the main manifestations of violence in society.
Following this, a master class will be given by British cinematographer Frank Passingham, who will lead a workshop on cinematography for stop-motion animation.
The Forum’s program, which runs until December 11, also includes the collateral activity Animassinha, a claymation workshop with Brazilian animator Daniel Rabanea, designed for 25 children aged 10 and older.
The event will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays in the afternoon at La Manigua cultural center.
Dedicated to renowned Cuban filmmaker, cartoonist, and comic book artist Juan Padron (1947-2020), the event is part of the program of the 46th Havana International New Latin American Film Festival.
