In a press conference, the well-known television presenter referred to the victory of the candidate from the right-wing National Party (PN), Nasry Asfura, who was proclaimed president-elect of the country on Wednesday by the National Electoral Council (CNE) for the 2026-2030 term.
“We do not accept the declaration issued by the CNE because it does not reflect the full truth of the citizens’ vote,” Nasralla emphasized, accusing the electoral body of irregularities in the vote count, omissions of tally sheets, and the failure to count more than two million ballots.
“I entered into politics to fight corruption, and today I am a victim of the very corruption I have been denouncing,” remarked the presidential candidate for the Liberal Party (PL), after launching harsh criticism against Asfura’s party, which governed Honduras from 2014 to 2022, a period known as the narco-dictatorship.
“Those who will govern Honduras are organized crime, led by Juan Orlando Hernandez,” Nasralla warned, alluding to the former Honduran president and former leader of the National Party (PN), sentenced by the United States to 45 years in prison for drug trafficking offenses.
Three days before the November 30 elections, President Donald Trump openly endorsed Asfura and announced a pardon for Hernandez, in stark contrast to his supposed international crusade against drug trafficking.
He warned that the validation of the results will weigh heavily on the shoulders of the CNE authorities for the rest of their lives, because they failed to count some 10,000 ballot boxes containing more than two million votes, he emphasized.
