Cuba and Singapore to strengthen economic and parliamentary contacts

Singapore, Apr 22 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and Singapore foresee greater possibilities for closer contact in several economic sectors and between their Parliaments, the diplomatic mission of the island in the city-state informed.

This was appreciated here by the new Cuban ambassador, Lisbet Quesada, and the president of the Singaporean Parliament, Seah Kian Peng.

In a courtesy interview with the diplomat, the Singaporean legislative leader was interested in the most strategic issues of the bilateral agenda and expressed his willingness to strengthen and diversify inter-parliamentary relations.

Seah Kian Peng pointed out that in particular there are possibilities of working together in areas such as tourism, connectivity, and the functioning of the respective Parliaments.

The ambassador made a presentation on the composition, structure, and functioning of the National People’s Power Assembly of Cuba and agreed with her host on the possibility and convenience of strengthening inter-parliamentary exchanges at the highest level.

On its Facebook page, the Singapore Parliament recalled that diplomatic relations between the two countries celebrated its 27 years last April 19.

At today’s meeting, both sides reaffirmed their countries’ warm bilateral ties, looking forward to the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
