Moscow, May 7 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel arrived in Russia on Tuesday on a working visit and to participate for the first time in person in an expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, Prensa Latina reported.

The head of State is heading his country’s delegation to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting, at which Cuba has had the status of Observer State of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) since 2020.

During his stay in the Russian capital, the Díaz-Canel will be welcomed by his counterpart, Vladimir Putin, with whom he will review bilateral ties in all fields, including politics, diplomacy, and economic cooperation.

The Cuban president will also attend the Parade to commemorate the 79th anniversary of the Victory Day against Fascism at Moscow’s Red Square, along with the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Laos, and Guinea Bissau.

Díaz-Canel visited Russia previously in November 2022, when, along with Putin, he inaugurated a monument to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro (1926-2016), at the square named after him in Moscow’s Sokol district.
