Bolivian Justice Minister ratifies corruption crackdown

La Paz, Apr 15 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivian government will crack down on corruption however many heads have to roll, Justice Minister Ivan Lima declared about the arrest of former Minister of Rural Development and Lands Edwin Characayo for alleged bribery.

According to Lima, there are ‘strong evidence that public-order crimes were committed in here. There are authorities at different levels that are under investigation.’

Former minister was arrested for alleged bribery in Santa Cruz, while others involved, such as the General Director of Rural Development Hiper García were removed from their positions.

Lima called on the victims of extortion by Characayo and his accomplices to make their respective complaints and claimed the authorities will preserve their identity.
