The consultation clashes with Israel’s refusal to allow Palestinians living in East Jerusalem to participate in the poll.

In the text, Hamas proposes to hold the elections in all the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem, against the opposition of the occupying power.

The issue will be discussed on Thursday at a meeting of the leadership of all Palestinian organizations, convened by President Mahmoud Abbas, according to the official news agency WAFA, which quoted Mahmoud Alloul, deputy head of the Fatah movement, as saying that holding the elections without East Jerusalem ‘is tantamount to betrayal’.
