In statements to Prensa Latina, the communist leader asked ‘France and the European Union to support the next United Nations resolution, which for almost 30 years has demanded the definitive lifting of the inhumane and inadmissible blockade against the Cuban people.’

He said he was confident that this vote at the United Nations General Assembly on June 23 ‘will be widely supported and respected by all countries worldwide,’ so that ‘US President Joe Biden can also commit to this subject.’

According to Roussel, ‘it is necessary to end this policy of sanctions against the peoples and resort to peace, cooperation and exchanges, to especially face up this pandemic and each country can save the greatest number of lives’, he said.

Amid the difficulties worsened by the US blockade, ‘Cuba has begun to vaccinate its entire population, but due to restrictions, it has had to resort to the solidarity movement to obtain, for example, syringes,’ the candidate added.
