Cuba gives its best Olympic performance since 2004

Tokyo, Aug 6 (Prensa Latina) With the victory of boxer Julio Cesar La Cruz on Friday, Cuba won its sixth gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, being its best performance since Athens 2004.

La Cruz won convincingly in the 91-kilogram final, gave the Cuban delegation a gold medal to surpasses the five titles won in Rio 2016 and London 2012, and three in Beijing 2008.

So far, the Cuban delegation has also won three silver medals and four bronze medals, so it stands in the 13th position in the general table of medals by countries.

This way, Cuba has surpassed its results in the most recent Olympic events, as in Rio de Janeiro the record was 5-2-4, in London 5-3-7 and in China 3-10-17.
