Zaragoza City Council deplores efforts to condemn Cuba

Madrid, Aug 6 (Prensa Latina) The City Council of Zaragoza, Spain, condemned by a majority the efforts to condemn Cuba, underlining that the right wing is concerned about Cuba's example for the world.

It is immoral to point a finger at a country that has suffered from an economic blockade for more than 60 years, and is now subjected to a media ‘Bay of Pigs’ attack, in order to bring down an example of resistance for Latin America and the world, delegate Alberto Cubero noted.

Cubero, representative of the Communist Party of Aragon, standing for the Zaragoza en Comun group, stated that the right wing does not have the least ethics when seeking to condemn Cuba.

‘We voted against this proposal because it is about a right wing concerned about the human rights situation in Cuba, but it is the same right wing that refused to condemn the violations in Colombia three months ago,’ he stated.

He added that the right wing in Zaragoza has made no comments on the assassination of the Haitian president by former Colombian military personnel trained in the United States.

Cubero accused the right-wing sectors for ignoring the economic blockade that Washington has maintained against Cuba and has been repudiated by the overwhelming majority in United Nations member States.

An embargo that prevents the only nation that has produced not one, but two vaccines against Covid-19, from buying syringes, Cubero emphasized.

What democracy are you talking about to Cuba if you live and practice the dictatorship of capital in Spain, the delegate said after giving several examples of problems being faced by Spanish society.
