However, Shoigu pointed out that the leaders of the Taliban movement promised not to launch attacks on the neighboring States, TASS news agency stressed.

On Tuesday, forces from Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan concluded joint military drills with the participation of 2,500 soldiers at Harb-Maidon firing range, located 20 kilometers north of the Tajik border with Afghanistan.

According to Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, Russia’s Central Military District Commander, the drills demonstrated the capabilities for the use of an interdisciplinary group of troops based on the experience gained during the fights in the Syrian Arab Republic.

Lapin explained that those maneuvers were carried out in the context of the worsening of the situation in Afghanistan.
