At a meeting in this capital, the leaders of the Greek initiative to awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Cuban doctors, Velisarios Kossivakis and Takis Varelas, expressed their will to strengthen the ties of friendship between the two peoples.
In addition, they presented Cuban Ambassador Zelmys Maria Dominguez with an album containing 12 paintings by Varelas, as a symbol of support for Cuba.
The compilation is entitled ‘Cuba is not alone’ and the money from its sale will be donated to the Cuban people through the established legal channels.
Participants in the meeting paid tribute to Fidel Castro, whose birthday is celebrated on August 13.
They reiterated their wishes to strengthen ties between Cuba and Greece, as well as cultural exchange.
Created in March 2020, the Greek initiative to award the Peace Nobel Prize to Henry Reeve Internationalist Brigade has gathered more than 230,000 signatures in recognition of the solidarity from Cuba and its doctors.
