We urge all regional actors and partners to get the transition process back on track, wrote the head of European diplomacy on Twitter after learning of the

the arrest of the African country’s prime minister-designate, Abdullah Hamdok, and four ministers at their homes.

In this scenario Hamdok, whose whereabouts are unknown, urged the population to occupy the streets to ‘defend the revolution’.

Meanwhile, an official spokesman accused the national army of being behind a new coup, according to the daily Sudan Ajbar.

Since the failed coup of last September 21, the African nation lives an escalation of tension due to power struggles and divisions between sectors that led the protests in 2019 against the then president Omar Al Bashir, who was forced to resign.

In that scenario, transitional authorities were installed following an agreement between the military junta, various civilian organizations and political opposition.
