Ships of the Russian Baltic Fleet departed for combat maneuvers

Moscow, Jan 24 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Baltic Fleet reported today that 20 ships and support vessels left their permanent bases for designated areas in that maritime area to carry out combat training.

According to the statement, the ships, gathered in various tactical groups, will carry out anti-submarine, anti-aircraft and anti-mine defense exercises for the detachments at sea.

The groups will be made up of minesweepers, small anti-submarine ships, as well as missile-carrying vessels.

According to the preparation plan of the Russian Armed Forces in 2022, between the months of January and February the country will carry out naval exercises under the general supervision of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the main objective of the exercises is to practice the actions of naval and aerospace forces to protect national interests in the world’s oceans and counter military threats from sea and ocean directions.

The exercises will cover the waters of the seas adjacent to the territory of this country, in addition to the areas of operational importance of the oceans, in such a way that they will take place, separately, in the waters of the Mediterranean, the North Sea, the Sea of ​​Okhotsk, the Northeast Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.

The military entity reported that a total of more than 140 warships and support vessels, more than 60 planes, a thousand pieces of other war equipment and some 10 thousand soldiers will participate.
