Cuba strengthens health cooperation with several nations

Havana, May 23 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Minister of Health, José Ángel Portal, strengthened today in Geneva, Switzerland, cooperation ties with Kyrgyzstan and the Maldives Islands, after specifying that objective with other nations.

Through the social network Twitter, the head of this Caribbean island Ministry,reported on the exchange held with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Alymkadyr Beishenaliev, as well as with the Maldivian, Shah Abdulla Mahir, in order to expand actions for the benefit of both peoples.

Portal previously spoke with his counterpart from Iran, Bahram Ainollahi, and from Egypt, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, in whose messages the friendly bilateral relations were ratified.

The Cuban Minister of Health also spoke with the Algerian, Abderrahmane Benbouzid, with whom he discussed the existing possibilities to continue strengthening cooperation.

It is the common will of both countries to work to consolidate and expand this path, he said, while both officials recalled the 59th anniversary of the Cuban medical collaboration, which began precisely in that African territory with the sending of the first brigade of professionals in the field assistance.

Strengthening cooperation has been a goal of Cuba and Indonesia for decades, Portal said regarding a meeting with the Minister of Health of that nation, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, during which they ratified their mutual willingness to explore possible areas of collaboration on issues of health and biopharmaceutical industry.

From the friendship that unites our peoples and governments, this Monday we spoke in Geneva with the Deputy Minister of Health in the Plurinational State of Bolivia, the Cuban minister also reported.

The day before, the delegation from the largest of the Antilles held meetings with senior officials from South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Malta and Mozambique.

Cuba comes to share experiences, strengthen cooperation ties and ratify its commitment to the health and peace of the peoples, said the minister in relation to the Antillean presence at the 75th World Health Assembly that began last Sunday and will culminate next May 28. ef/car/znc
