Havana, May 26 (Prensa Latina) The epidemiological situation and the post-Covid-19 actions, as well as issues on the educational development are on the agenda of two commissions of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino), taking place on Thursday in Havana.

The works, which will last until Friday, May 27, tally to the work by the Health and Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Communication Commissions, from which Cuba holds the presidency and the first vice-presidency, respectively, held by legislators Luis Velazquez and Miguel Charbonet, in that order.

According to the National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament), the agenda of the meeting includes the analysis by the members of the Parlatino’s Health Commission of issues on sustainable development in the post-Covid-19 stage and the epidemiological situation of the pandemic in the region.

They will also review the impacts and teachings learned from the pandemic in the Latin American and Caribbean nations, the effectiveness of health policies in the face of this disease and the strengthening of the health systems.

The members of the Commission on Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Communication will address the Education Plan for the Development and Integration of Latin America and the project Cultural Feasibility in the Development Planning.

They will also review the work done by the Network of Parliamentarians for Education for Everyone, the activities of the Legislative Academy of the Latin American Parliament and the report on the Library, Documentation Center and Central Archives at Parlatino.

They will also discuss the preparations for the UNESCO-MONDIACULT 2022 World Conference, to be held in Mexico from September 28 to 30, and the presentation of Virtual Educa, related to the Global Education Summit, among other initiatives.

On Wednesday, Parliament’s Speaker Esteban Lazo welcomed virtually the delegates to this meeting and wished them success in their work.
